Iranian animation ‘Ascribed Achievement’ has been scheduled to be screened in Athens and Birmingham.
The 12th edition of the Athens Animfest, to run on March 16-22, will screen the animation in Greece.
Athens event will show over 350 animated short and long pieces from 35 countries.
The 11th edition of the Flatpack Film Festival, to run on April 4-9, will screen ‘Ascribed Achievement’ directed by Samaneh Shojaei in the UK.
The animation, which is a new experience with grotesque narration and real images, tells the story of an old boy, who is dissatisfied with his inborn appearance and decides to end his life. But his failed suicide leads to a new situation in his life.
The Greek festival will also screen nine other Iranian animations, including ‘In the Crosshairs’ directed by Marzieh Kheirkhah, ‘Runaway’ directed by Amir Kazemi, ‘Icky’ directed by Parastou Kargar and ‘Light Slight’ directed by Seyyed-Moslem Tabatabaei.
The 12th Athens AnimFest pre-selection juries have selected a large number of animated movies submitted from all over the world, confirming Athens as part of the high quality animation festival association.
Launched in 2006, Flatpack has been lighting up Birmingham every spring, with one-of-a-kind events and screenings to be found in spaces across the city. The event gives a good chance to the contents including live soundtracks, animation, documentary, ground-breaking shorts, virtual reality, weird films for kids, archive gems and plenty more besides.
